Sudhir Mungee was born and raised in Indore, a city in central India. He trained at the prestigious MGM Medical School in India and came to the USA in 1994 to pursue further training.
Dr. Mungee received honors and recognition as "Best Resident" while at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, an affiliate of New York Medical College. He spent the next four years as the only physician serving the community of Stanley, North Dakota. It was during this time that Dr. Mungee became known as "the people's doctor" becoming a beloved member of the community.
During this time Dr. Mungee developed a greater interest in cardiology and decided to pursue further education by completing an Electrophysiology Research and Clinical Fellowship at Michigan State University, a Cardiology Fellowship at SUNY Downstate University in New York, and an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship, also at SUNY Downstate University.
Dr. Mungee joined the OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute in 2006. He is Board Certified in Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Mungee is the Director of Structural Cardiology and is an expert in complex coronary interventions, TAVR & MitraClip.
Dr. Mungee is an avid researcher and Professor of Medicine at UICOMP and Program Director of Cardiovascular Fellowship since 2013 training 9 clinical Fellows in a three-year fellowship program.
Dr. Mungee is married to Megha Mungee, MD a Family Physician at OSF and is the father of two, a son and a daughter. When not taking care of patients, Dr. Mungee enjoys tennis, golf, singing, and cooking authentic Indian cuisine.
